Vietnamese Restaurant Family Kitchen in Vinohrady, Prague

Located in the heart of Prague 2, our first-generation family restaurant is all about our chef’s true love for cooking. We started this journey because we wanted to bring the real flavour of Hanoi to this neighborhood. By mixing authentic Northern Vietnamese traditions with dishes our local guests love, we’ve created a spot that is both traditional and welcoming.

From Hanoi to the heart of Prague

The chef of Family Kitchen, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, is a man of few words, choosing instead to pour his heart and soul into every dish he creates. As a true native of Hanoi, with a family heritage rooted in the city for generations, he began his culinary journey at a young age.

He honed his craft across some of the most prestigious venues: starting in the early 1990s at the government guest house (37 Hùng Vương Street) serving the National Assembly, followed by Hanoi Hotel (D8 Giảng Võ), and as part of the opening team for the 5-star Hanoi Daewoo Hotel in 1996, the city’s most luxury hotel at the time.

Thanks to his exceptional talent, Chef Dung was chosen to represent Vietnamese gastronomy across Asia, completing advanced training at the Seoul Hilton and showcasing his cuisine at the Grand Hyatt Taipei. Throughout his career, he has cooked for high-ranking Vietnamese officials and international delegations, with a defining highlight in 2000 when he had the rare honor of preparing a menu for U.S. President Bill Clinton.

Life’s journey eventually brought him to Prague, half a world away from home. Though he has faced his share of hardships, he never let go of his passion or his standards. He brought with him the most precious things he owned: his family’s traditional recipes and the meticulous precision of a world-class chef. Now, right here in Prague, he has one simple goal: to serve his guests the true, sincere, and original taste of Hanoi.
