Located in the heart of Prague 2, our first-generation family restaurant is all about our chef’s true love for cooking. We started this journey because we wanted to bring the real flavour of Hanoi to this neighborhood. By mixing authentic Northern Vietnamese traditions with dishes our local guests love, we’ve created a spot that is both traditional and welcoming.
In our restaurant, you aren't just a customer but a guest visiting our family. We believe in the real family vibe where hospitality comes straight from the heart. From our authentic Hanoian recipes to our daily fresh homemade desserts, everything we serve is a piece of our story. If you're in the center of Prague, stop by for a meal that feels like home.
Family Kitchen is run by chef Nguyen Tien Dung with his wife, son and daughter. We opened in 2026 on Nitranská street in Vinohrady, three minutes from Jiřího z Poděbrad metro. Our herbs come from Vietnam, and we buy them fresh every day at Prague's SAPA market.
Our Chef's Story
The chef of Family Kitchen, Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, is a man of few words, choosing instead to pour his heart and soul into every dish he creates. As a true native of Hanoi, with a family heritage rooted in the city for generations, he began his culinary journey at a young age.
He gathered his culinary expertise at the most prestigious locations. He served at the Government Guest House at 37 Hùng Vương, Hanoi Hotel D8 Giảng Võ, and the luxurious 5-star Hanoi Daewoo Hotel, which was the most prestigious hotel in Hanoi at the time. He also gained valuable international experience at the Grand Hyatt Taipei and the Seoul Hilton (South Korea).
Throughout his career, he personally served numerous world leaders and high-level delegations, including the Presidents of Argentina, Singapore, and South Korea, the Princess of Thailand, the Sultan of Brunei, U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, and dozens of heads of state at the 1997 Francophonie Summit. Standout milestones in his career include personally serving the legendary General Võ Nguyên Giáp and crafting the menu for U.S. President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton.
Life’s journey eventually brought him to Prague, half a world away from home. Though he has faced his share of hardships, he never let go of his passion or his standards. He brought with him the most precious things he owned: his family’s traditional recipes and the meticulous precision of a world-class chef. Now, in the center of Prague, he has one simple goal: to serve his guests the true, sincere, and original taste of Hanoi.
